Moonpig Gift Box

As regular readers know I rarely go beyond two items in a single review. Here I break my own rule by covering three. First the Touch Speaker, a close sibling of this earned a 5x5 award earlier this year. Also covered here are Zip Earphones and iPlunger.

The three items covered here and the iChange Phone Charger covered in my previous review are all sold as a bundle called Move To The Beat by www.monnpig.com for £35 and this includes a useful document box and even a greetings card so ideal for the gadget person whose Birthday or other significant even you forget. Certainly with their cards they state order by 4PM for same day dispatch. For the gifts it says order by 2PM.

Touch Speaker by thumbsUp

This is 13x7x3.5cm and weights 241grams. The weight includes 3x‘AA’ batteries, not supplied. It can however be run from a standard micro USB to USB lead which is not supplied.

In this version the 2cm round speakers are not covered on the main body and this is overcome by the inclusion of a rubber sleeve that stops little fingers probing the speakers.

On one end is the micro USB socket and a 3.5mm socket that would allow you to use it as a conventional speaker. On the other end is a push button to turn the unit on/off, there is a small blue LED above this that is not visible when the sleeve is in place.

I think this unit must be an earlier version of the one I reviewed that got the 5x5 award. The speakers still amplify the sound well but the idea has improved. The idea is the same just place your phone on the unit with the speaker and hear the sound vastly increased from that offered by the phone alone.

Zip Earphones by thumbsUP

I have looked at another pair of these but not from a company selling in the UK.

The idea is to stop the lead of your earbuds getting knotted up when not being used.

One choice favoured by some manufacturers is to give you a flat rather than a round cable this works to a limited extent but even these can get twisted when in pocket or purse.

The idea here is that the two leads zip up when not in use making the lead far more substantial.

The length of the lead is 1.3metres and it comes with two sizes of earbud which are interchangeable.

On the face of it a nice idea but is it more than a gimmick?

iPlunger by thumbsUP

This is perhaps the simplest item I have ever reviewed. The name gives you a picture of it in your mind and while it is a good bit smaller than what you would unblock a sink with the design is similar. Its use is to support a smartphone at an angle so watching the screen can be conducted without the need for a couple of fingers.

It is 4cm long from plunger to tip of the wooden top. The plunger is 3cm across and it attaches without problem to anything with a flat back.

All these items are well as the I-Charge phone charger looked at in my previous review are sold as a bundle by Moonpig in their ‘Move To The Beat’ Gift Box which is a useful item a substantial file box and it comes with a Greetings Card.

The Gift Pack (all four items) can be purchased from www.moonpig.com for £35.
