Are you up to the task of taking a long sea voyage to rescue your sweetheart who has been kidnapped by pirates?

A life on the ocean waves may not be everybody's cup of tea especially when you are merely a young corsair who is living in the period when sails were the dominate transport factor.  It does not help when you sit in Port Royal harbour with only your unrequited thoughts of Polly, who is the daughter of Lord Grimridge the governor of Park Royal, to keep you company.  But matters change when Polly is kidnapped under the cover of darkness by the dastardly cursed pirate Captain Mordain.  Lord Grimridge offers the reward of a King's ransom to whoever returns Polly safe and sound.

This is your opportunity of a useful and rewarding life as you gather together a crew that includes Rosa Flint, Maria and the mysterious Seretina plus a ship as you set out to track down Mordain and rescue Polly as you tackle 220 levels of Match 3 game play that forms the major part of Anawiki's Seven Seas Jewels.  Available in Collector's Edition format, this game can be played in either Puzzle, with  limited moves, or Relaxed mode, in a choice of English, Spanish, German or French language with adjustable volume levels.

When faced by a Match 3 level, you will be presented with a grid filled with numerous tiles.  The grid will be sandwiched between the current challenge of tiles to be removed  for that level on the left and available power-ups arranged on the right.  Initially the power-up options will be greyed out until you have build up enough resources to use them.

The standard method of clearing tiles from the grid will be applied by swapping two adjacent tiles which will create a group of three and more tiles which then disappear before being replaced by others falling downwards.  As you progress through the levels, different types of tiles will be added.  Generally these newcomers will be accompanied by a message regarding how they should be treated.  Often you will be required to perform this action before being allowed to continue.  Among the tiles introduced in this manner will be maps, cocoanuts, keys, treasure chests, cook pots, oysters, hats and power balls.

While creating groups of tiles can aid their removal, it can also provide you with additional tools to help with clearance.  Bombs capable of clearing a row or column, can be created with a group of four tiles.  When a group of five tiles is created then your reward will be a rainbow tile that can be used to clear all tiles of a specific colour.  One tile that can not be removed as part of a group is a parrot tile.  You will need to create a pathway beneath this tile so that it drops off the base of the grid.

Certain  grids will feature a particular beast or pirate.  This character will be displayed within a fenced area that can be removed by multiple attacks from groups of tiles.  Among the opponents you might encounter a giant rat, rot jaw or a rebel.  As well as these challenges you might need to set a path linking a ship tile to a land area.  At various points during the set journey of Match 3 levels you will be faced by a scenic image that is split into 7 x 5 segments.  You will need to recreate the scene by swapping pairs of segments to take up their correct positions.

Once sufficient progress has been made through the main Match 3 levels, you will be able to access three mini games that come bundled with the product.  A game of Battleships can be played by firing cannon balls on a grid layout.  You can also guess whether the next card in a sequence will be higher or lower than the previous card or find pairs in an arrangement of face down cards.

If you fancy a life at sea then you can download Seven Seas Jewels from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99.  It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £14.79.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 2048MB of RAM and 348MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
