Return to Enchantment

A magical land offers you the opportunity to test your skills with this next game.

Developed by Seven Sails, Enchantment 2 - Sun's Tear is a Hidden Object title.  I have been playing the Collector's Editiom version of the game which is set in the Malleryn Kingdom, a land that appears to be missing almost any form of life, whether animal or Human, but possessing numerous puzzles that need to be solved.  The game invites you to visit the Kingdom, with it magical folklore, and work your way through a series of levels made up of the puzzles mentioned earlier.

The usual array of features can be adjusted to create a gaming environment suitable for the player.  You can set volume audio levels, opt for full screen viewing and activate a custom cursor.  There is a choice of three levels of difficulty as you select from Easy, Medium or Hard which give different rates for recharging the game's Hint feature.

On arriving at the Kingdom, you are immediately placed into puzzle solving mode.  A series of puzzles start as you will need to find 20 gems concealed within a scene.  Two forms of assistance are provided with this type of puzzles.  These aids come in the form of a rechargeable Hint feature which will pinpoint the position of a yet-to-be-found gem and you will also have access to a moveable zoom feature that is access following a right mouse click.

The next puzzles that you face will involve the recreation of an image by rotating the individual section that the image has been split into.  No clue is provided as to what the actual image should look like when completed but, at least, you will have access to a Hint feature to advise you as to which sections require work in order to position them correctly in the scheme of things.

The third puzzle in the sequence that follows consists of finding small parts of three items from a scene. These items meld together to create three sections of an article which will come together once completed to form a morphing shard.  You are provided with a Hint feature and zoom capability with this puzzle.

A stain-glass windows puzzles comes next.  You will be supplied with the template from which you can build up the window by adding the pieces of coloured glass that fit into the sections of the template.  You will need to drag each pieces of glass into its appropriate section.  Neither of the Hint feature or zoom capability will be provided with this type of puzzle.

With the next puzzle, symbols will replace windows.  You will be required to find ten pairs of symbols that have been integrated into a scene that is build around a tree that has a human face.  To ease your search task, both the Hint feature and zoom capability have been restored.

The last type of puzzle in the sequence used in this game is that of the old chestnut of playing a game of hangman.  You will need to find the appropriate letters that make up a word which somehow related to the Kingdom of Malleryn.  Correctly targeted letters will be automatically placed in their correct position in the word.  The puzzle allows you to make up to seven mistakes with your choice of letters and you will have access to a Hint feature.

This sequence of puzzles will be repeated several time.  Having worked your way through the full main supply of puzzles, you will be granted access to ten bonus levels.

Disappointingly the game does appear to lack any back-story to help hold your attention and encourage you to keep on puzzle solving.  This game can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or Big Fish Games priced at £14.81.  The game requires a 1.00 GHz processor with 256MB of RAM and 589MB of hard disk space running windows 7 and later.
