This is big it is also heavy and the box it comes in would probably rate as deluxe accommodation by a homeless person. The main box does even contain the DVD player only its speakers and sub woofer.

This is quite unusual in that the speakers can be wall mounted or stand on the floor on their own supplied stands. To give you some idea the box containing the 5.1 speakers, stand, and the sub woofer weights a mighty 29 kilos.
Where to start, there is a rather nice DVD player unit 43x28x4cm that has also an FM/AM radio built in. There is a 10x1cm display on the right side and the back has A/C power input, component video sockets, SCART socket, Digital in, S-Video and Aux in as well as sockets for both AM and FM antennas. It can of course also play CDs and CDs of MP3 or WMA files, they all sound great.
The sub woofer is 17x45x41cm and has 140w output. The speaker section can be mounted in front of the display and has a frequency range of 30-200Hz. It is however more likely that the sub woofer will be on the floor especially as this helps to carry the bass sounds.
There are a total of five other speakers a pair of front speakers, a pair of surround speakers and a centre speaker that is likely to be near the TV.
The front speakers are 25x25x10cm and these are shown as mounted beside a flat panel TV in an illustration and this would be great for losing some of the spaghetti of leads but they do weight 2.6 kilos each so a strong wall would be needed especially if you already have say a plasma screen mounted on it. It is more likely that in most homes the provided 1 metre high stands would be used.
The centre speaker 32x9x8cm could certainly live near the TV and should be as near centre as possible.
The surround speakers are the same size and shape as the front speakers but even in the illustrations these are only shown on the stands so their height is 1.1metres each.
This is not a trivial product surely the supplied 77 key remote control shouts that, should this unit be something you are thinking of purchasing you could download a copy of the manual in PDF from http://www.jvc.co.uk/files/instruction_manual/gvt0152-001a.pdf just to see all the things it can do that I have not even managed to mention in this article.
If you do not want (or cannot accommodate) the one metre high speaker stands then maybe the TH-S55 model with more conventional shaped and sized speakers and the same DVD unit may be of interest, again why not download the manual as a first port of call.
The typical shop price is stated to be £399.99. Doing my internet search I found the JVC TH-S66 at £252 but you need to add £19.99 for delivery and in this case I am sure the courier will earn his money.
