Deep in the Kingdom of Angkor is the village of Runefall. This particular village is hidden from the sight of normal people as its inhabitants are magicians who use their powers to stop their presence being noticed by the general community that might stumble on the village and its surrounding area. The magicians do not wish to be disturbed as they continue their study of the ancient runes that are waiting to be found in the vicinity of the village.
That is until a Catastrophe struck the area. A series of earthquakes occurred. These caused damage and disruption to the village as a whole. As a young and gifted apprentice magician you are called upon to put your skills to the test and discover the reason for the earthquakes and restore matters that make up the game of "Angkor - Runefall".
Developed by Ironcode Gaming, this title combines aspects of Match 3 game play with building restoration issues. As the young apprentice magician, looking to improve their standing in the community, you will need to work through and complete 100 levels of Match 3 game play. While you are supplying all the skill and hard work, this title could hardly be considered generous in the amount of instructions provided with the various tasks you will be meant to tackle. You are generally left to try different approaches to the methods you need to use when tackling various tasks.
Fortunately Match 3 game play actions follows a fairly standard pattern. You will need to carry out a challenge that involves clearing a specific number of cells within either a set time period or designated number of moves. In some cases you will need to concentrate your action of certain tiles. In order to carry out the cleansing task for a Match 3 level, you can use the normal methods of cleaning. By swapping two adjacent you can create groups of three similar tiles than then disappear and are replaced by other tiles falling downwards.
Occasionally an explosive tile and a special rune will be added to the content of the grid. This can prove use to help clear areas. You will also have access to a small selection of power-ups. Once these bonus elements have been fully charged by making progress in the level, you will be able to remove a tile or have a random shuffle carried out among remaining tiles.
Points will be awarded for each completed level of Match 3 action. These points will be automatically converted into appropriate building material and resources. Using these facilities you can repair various structures found within the village. After some initial progress you will be granted access to a Map feature that will allow you to explore nearby areas such as a Witch Hut, Ancient Temple, Old Gate, Portal, Larva Bridge and the hard-to-miss Volcano. These areas will bring their own issues as you are face by additional problems.
You can download "Angkor - Runefall" from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £2.97. The game requires a 1.2 GHz processor with 2048MB of RAM and 173MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
