Braun LE03

This is a quality speaker that has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Chromecast and Auxiliary input; it has control by voice curtesy of Google and of course like everything of quality ‘size is not everything’ as it is quite small. Setup should be a matter of minutes then just enjoy the quality of the sounds and wonder why other speakers even large ones do not sound so good.

The Braun LE03 measures 16x16x7.5cm but the power lead sticks out from the back by another 4cm, if you were thinking placing it on a shelf it weighs 1.7kilos.

There is possibly another problem but I will mention that later.

Setup is first placing the unit, then linking it to Google Home and then enjoying your purchase.

It comes with both three pin UK mains lead and two pin Europe lead the only other item in the box is a Quick Start Guide booklet to cover all the three LE units in the Braun range.

My setup was not straightforward as the unit sent to me was pre used and had information on it which stopped a straightforward linking to Google Home the Quick Strat Guide does not show how to do a Factory Reset and when I went online the Braun site was less than perfect, however after a phone call from their technical support the problem was resolved.

There are six buttons on top of the unit Bluetooth, Pause, Action, in one line and on the line below -, + both affecting volume and finally a microphone mute button orange LED. The front has a mesh covering the speaker and towards the top right there are four LED’s that tell you all you need to know during setup and in use these show through in white denoting volume level. The base has two silicone rubber feet 6x1cm running front to back, finally the back has two pin mains input and 3.5mm socket for Auxiliary connection.

As with all headphone and speaker units I test all Genres of music and voice as well as far more than required of my Genre of choice Jazz, everything sounded fine even ladies being strangled which some may enjoy this is known as Opera.

The quality over Wi-Fi was wonderful and providing where you are positioned is within a mains lead distance (1.85 meters) to the unit and also still in Wi-Fi means you could enjoy this in your garden.

Bluetooth is a good as any other but in my home with concrete walls that means around nine meters, Auxiliary is as good as your MP3 players content quality will allow.

Now the minus points it would have been nice if this could work on a rechargeable battery making distance from a mains plug irreverent and it’s not cheap – quality never is – its £349.

After initial frustration with setup as the unit was not factory reset before it was sent to me I enjoyed using this unit, the sound quality was excellent and with the right streaming source you can even detect where instruments were on the stage it’s a very nice sound.
