Noise and Action

These two items are both the biggest and the most expensive and also the noisiest of all the toys and games that I selected from this years Dream Toys event, the kids will love them.

Zero Gravity

This vehicle will climb walls, I do not mean that it will send parents up them, it actually climbs walls as well as working on the ground. Yes you do need a reasonably flat wall - no hugely deep wallpapers - but it certainly coped with anaglyptia.

In the very crudest terms it works a little like a hovercraft - no don't try it on water - air is sucked under the vehicle and this holds it to the wall.

It is radio controlled and glory be the battery for the remote is provided. The vehicle is rechargeable it works on the 27MHz band and while I managed to use it at one end of my hall to the other without losing control, this time of year is not really outdoors weather so neither I or my testers tried it outside.

Reading the blurb the only limitation stated on the back is not suitable for 0-3 year olds. However on the front it says 8+. I would certainly expect an adult to supervise anyone under say 7 years especially when using the charger unit. However as with all recommendations the parent should know the ability - and sensibleness - of their child.

The vehicle is black and 29x19x14cm, the remote looks rather like most handheld driving units with the words 'Air Hogs' and controls for both thumbs.

The best price I found is £79.95 from the first link below that has an moving model of the vehicle.

Dare Devil Stunt Set

I dare say the noise from this unit will overcome the number of times the motorbike fails in it's attempts to clear the wall or loop the loop.

This toy does not require batteries instead it's the old method of push many times to build up the 'revs' before letting go.

The box says original 1970's design collectors edition. There are over forty pieces and while the motor cycle makes all the noise, the other parts like the break apart wall and the loop the loop roadway make this fun for kids.

The box says age 5 upwards. Certainly with the small pieces the choking hazard for younger children than this would be relevant. The Evil Knievel figure is posable so can be played with off the motor cycle. For kids the noise of the motor cycle will perhaps be more important than doing the tricks for all but the older child.

My advice remove anything breakable or valuable from anywhere the kids are playing with it. Perhaps a pair of ear plugs as when my testers got stuck in the decibel level was certainly raised, but, they seemed to enjoy it.

Doing my searches found it at a best price of £29.99 including free delivery from the first link below.

I promise all further toys and games reviewed this year will be quieter and maybe even a little educational.
