Oleg Sereda has produced another set of images that can be created using the procedure known as Nonograms or Japanese Crosswords. Delivered in a package that features adjustable volume levels for the background music of various genres, cell animation, a choice of coloured or monochrome tiles with instructions presented in a variety of European languages, this follow-up offering is entitled Nonograms 2.
The game's content is made up of 120 levels that have been split between six chapters that each contain 20 grids ready for the player to solve by following the appropriate clues. Each chapter will be made up of a mixture of grids that consist of 10 x 10, 15 x 15, 20 x 20, 25 x 25, 30 x 30 and 35 x 35 cells. You will have total freedom of choice when it comes to selecting the order of both Chapters and individual grids.
As usual with Nonogram game play, you need to use the numeric clues placed along the top and left side of the grid to help decide which cells in the column or row need to be filled in or not. When more than a single number is positioned over the column or row, at least one cell should be left blank between created groups. The resulting image created should then form a mosaic.
While other titles in the Nonogram genre, that I have come across, would use grids that feature multiple levels assigned to their own colour when creating their mosaic image, Oleg Sereda Nonograms have a single layer It may seem like a slight change but it does increase the game's difficulty level somewhat. As well as reducing the number of layers, Nonogram 2 does increase the number of mistake permitted with the actual number depending upon the size of the grid..
Adding a touch of colour to the work area, the game allows you to cycle through various background wallpaper. Changes can be made to suit the condition of the current state of the grid by simply clicking on the appropriate icon.
Rather than offer the player some power-up options to help with specific tools to check cells, this game features four milk bottle type facilities that once filled can be used to random detect the status of a cell and fill in a selection of cells. The actual filling of the milk bottles is caused by the progress made by the completion of parts of the cells.
You can download Nonograms 2 from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £7.41. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 139MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
