Honor 90 Lite

This mid-range offering from Honor is the latest to cross my desk. Based on the recent Honor 90 it’s a bang up to date offering for those whom a full priced unit is out of reach.

The Honor 90 Lite mobile smartphone measures 16.55x7.3x.7cm apart from the area back top left where the cameras are which is 1.2cm, the unit weighs 180 grams.

Going around the outside has the volume rocker and on/off buttons on the right. The speaker and microphone are on the base split by the USB ‘C’ connection which is not only for charging but also allows easy access to remove photos and videos. The left side has SIM entry point. .3cm down from the top of the back on the left side is a slightly raised oval area with round protrusions that contain the units three camera and the LED flash is mounted just to the right of the main top camera but this is flat on the main back of the camera.

A three second push on the on/off button which is also a finger print scanner will turn the unit on this takes around 24 seconds and shutdown occurs after a five second push on the on/off button followed by two confirmation touches on the screen.

It has Magic OS on top of Android 13. The processor is MediaTec Dimensity 6020, there is 8GB RAM + 5GB turbo and there is 256GB of internal storage.

The screen resolution is 2388x1080 and it has a 4500mAh battery.

During initial setup it insists you try swiping but having done this you are then allowed to use the older Back, Home and show open Apps should you wish.

Like almost all phones of the last dozen years it’s all about the units cameras and this unit is no exception giving you performance that previous was only available in top of the range cameras.

The main camera is a high resolution 100MP f/1.9 camera, below this the 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP depth camera. The default capture with the 100MP offering is 25MP which will make the average image around 6MB. The front selfie unit is a rather nice 16MP offering.

I also took a range of videos and image wise they were rather nice, if you are taking them with say music I would save viewing them until off the unit as I found the units internal speaker rather harsh.

At the time of publication the Honor 90 Lite can be found on Amazon priced at £199, making it a great buy.
