Nitro 5 Notebook

This Notebook made by ACER is one of the Nitro 5 range. Its not quite the most powerful but still should help you to stay alive for longer if you are into games. It is also a very useful business notebook as it has numeric keyboard included to the right of the main keyboard.

Going around the outside of the Nitro 5 gaming laptop there is a Kensington Lock port, Ethernet, USB3 and audio out on the left, the front is clear, on the right are three LED's and two USB3. The back has charging port, USB 'C' and HDMI. The base has four mid sized rubber feet to keep it off whatever you place it on and allow extra ventilation.

The 104 keyboard is 3cm in from the back and this space has the rather good speakers. Left and right has a .65cm gap and the 10.5x7.5cm trackpad is mounted 9cm from the left and 15.5cm from the right in the 9cm space in front of the keyboard. The keyboard itself is backlit in red so easy to see even in less than perfect lighting conditions. The unit feels very solid and because of this the weight is more than most at close to 2.5 kilos. Using the provided round plug and transformer is the quickest way to recharge it but a USB 'C' to USB lead into a 13amp socket can do it and is a lot less weight to carry but it is slower to recharge.

This is a 12th generation Intel i5 processor running at 3.1GHz, it has 16GB RAM with a 512GB (475GB) SSD drive when first used you will have around 420GB available. It comes with 64bit Windows 11 Home V23H2 installed. You also get a free 30day trial of McAfee software and should you want it 30day trial of Microsoft 365 but that will require you to enter a credit card number. During my test period it also installed the March 24 updates.

These days setting up from new takes a while so I timed it setting up as a new PC rather than upgrading it from a current PC, that takes longer and instant answering of the required questions only took 6 minutes. While on timings the reset I do which removes all my data and personal information before return took 15 minutes, I have recently within the last year done this on other units which took well over an hour for the same process. So this is very rapid.

Acer have the Nitro 5 Notebook available from their store for £1049.99.

Alternatively, at the time of publication, you'll also find it on the Amazon site priced at £999
