Creating Mosaics in Africa

Image of author
It is time to test your nanogram skills as you travel around Africa.

Following on from taking a Winter Holiday excursion, as part of its Adventure Mosaic series, DIGIMIGHT spreads its scope even further and offers to take you on a Moto-Trip to Africa.  This journey will encompass stop-overs in Egypt, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Madagascar.  Each of these locations features 30 levels of nanogram game play that is mounted against localised landscapes of the visited area.

When setting up the game play environment for this title, you have the usual assortment of options.  Profiles can be created to record the progress of different players.  Adjustments can be made to the volume levels for music and sound effects plus the game can be viewed in full screen mode using a custom cursor.  You can also choose the appearance of the tiles that form part of the mosaic created aspect of the nanogram game.

For those not too familiar with nanogram game play, this type of action involves the creation of mosaic type images on a grid using numeric clues.  You will need to work through the construction of six different coloured layers.  Assisted by the numeric slues running across the top and down the left side of the grid, you need to fill in the appropriate grid cells.

At various times you will need to switch between the different coloured layers with each one coming with its own set of numeric clues.  As you work on each level, the results are melded together to build up the mosaic image.  Two power-ups, which need to be recharged after each use, are provided to help when deciding whether a cell should be filled in or not.

As mentioned earlier, each country on your travel schedule will feature 30 locations that feature their own nanogram grids.  By progressing through the nanogram grids and complete the different mosaics, you will receive an occasional reward.  Each country will feature eight rewards consisting of eight pieces that can be combined, using a silhouette area, to form a scene that is somehow associated with the associated country.  The individual pieces can be combined as you receive them or you could wait until all eight pieces have been received.  Pieces placed incorrectly within the silhouette will be rejected so you can try again to position them correctly.

Linking together the different countries, as you embark on the Moto-Trip to Africa, are various rather simplistic cut-scenes featuring static scenery.  These scenes are accompanied with printer text as the story line proceeds.  The scenes add little to the game apart from giving the player a break from the steady diet of nanogram creation action.

If you enjoy the challenge of nanogram mosaic creating game play, then this DIGIMIGHT title can prove an actual diversion with plenty of puzzle solving action.  I downloaded my copy of the title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  The game requires a 1.9 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 188MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
