The Best of Stuff show

Published in Misc on 5 Nov 2004
A chance to see some of the latest developments in the gadget world, direct from key manufacturers
This years event is very different from last years. Last years show was held in a big hall at Olympia covering everything from digital cameras to 'personal submarines'. This year was a more sedate and professional affair, mainly populated with the major manufacturers. Gone this year are the little and often interesting side-stands from the smaller companies.

True-Touch keyboard

Published in Laptops/PCs/Apple on 16 Apr 2004
My new 'modern' laptop doesn't come with keyboard, serial or parallel connectors and so I've reluctantly had to retire my excellent Epson keyboard (for now at least) after 10 years good service.

Panasonic KXTCD517EMCC DECT

Published in Phones on 13 Mar 2004
A top of the range DECT phone with answer phone and second handset. Has a range of features ideally suited to people working from home.
After several years using a previous Philips MP3/CD player I was quite excited to buy this new one - and hoping for even slight improvements in the skip control logic. I was quite surprised by the results.

Dell Insprion 5150

Published in Laptops/PCs/Apple on 23 Dec 2003
I've finally bought a new laptop to replace my excellent but aging Toshiba. After reviewing quite a few options the only real choice was the Dell Inspiron 5150. The price performance can't be beat - in theory at least. I was a little nervous about whether it would live up to my expectations!

Casio 2575 Sports Watch

Published in Health and Beauty on 22 Oct 2003
Sports watch providing stopwatch, distance measure, countdown timer... you get the idea? Just about everything you could as of something you put on your wrist while out running.
Ease of use? 6 out of 10 About a year ago my I started 'getting fit' - one of those things I've observed that people seem to do as the big 4-0 approaches.
I bought my Phillips 'Expanium 300 Series' MP3 CD player about a year ago, so this is long term review. In summary - I couldn't have asked for more from my money!
I've been gradually moving my , and more recently my collection onto my computer over the years. I think I have just about everything on there now taking about of disk space, I *really* need to make a copy after all that hard work. I use this archive both on that machine and when I'm busy else where in the house. .
