Two phones were launched as well as a headset. Here I am looking at the slightly lower specifications of the Reno 2 Z which has a Gorilla glass back so it could be a little slippy, however there is a reasonable back and sides case in the box.
It is 16x7.3x.9cm and it weighs 200grams. The right side has the SIM entry point and below that the on/off button. Boot up is 15 seconds and shutdown is 3 seconds. The base has speaker, USB ‘C’ port, pin hole microphone and 3.5mm headphone socket. The left side has volume up and down buttons. The top has the pop up camera to give a wider angle and a pin hole microphone.
My unit had a very pale blue – almost white – back, centrally mounted 1cm down from the top are the units four cameras with the LED flash to the cameras right.
It comes with Android 9 and Color 6.1, it has 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage around 24GB used. It has an Octa Core processor make up of two Cortex A75 and six Cortex A55. The battery is 4035mAh.
The viewable screen is 15x7cm this gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 6.5inches. The display is 1080x2340.
The front screen shows 12 items a Google Bar the time, date and temperature with the normal top line showing various housekeeping items. Flip upwards and you then get the A-Z of all Apps at five square icons across. Above this is a line of five ‘predicted apps’ that becomes more accurate with time and above this the search bar which can be text or speech operated. The finger print reader is in screen.
The front camera is 16MP, the rear cameras are 48MP, 8MP, 2MP and 2MP.
There is no in screen camera notch so you see more instantly.
The rear camera has up to 10X zoom not optical like its big brother but achieved by using it’s 48MP but a lot better than digital zoom. You also have a good ultra wide zoom.
Night mode is quite good but you do need a steady hand.
I was also quite pleased with the black and white images I took.
A claim I could not get to was the 50% charging in half an hour as I only have trickle charge from a USB plug front.
However this may look like a top of the range phone however its price point makes it mid range so this slightly smaller brother of the Reno 2 seems to me to be a rather well priced purchase.
