Honor Band 6-18E

This is a watch although Honor call it a Band. In fact it is far more than a method of telling the time as it tells you your heart rate and a great deal more. In fact it does more than my own watch that is four times the price of this unit.

The Honor Band 6 Smart Watch measures 4.5x.2.3x.7cm and weighs 30 grams with the attached strap. The viewable screen is 3.5x2cm. It is stated to last up to two weeks between charges this is of course dependent on the amount of time the display is on and after eleven days I was down to 15% so this seems about right as I was testing all the modes for my review.

Like most recent Smartwatches or Bands it works with an App on your Android device.

Setup is simple just link your phone to the Band and then should you wish you can get notifications sent to your wrist.

Apart from the watch faces already installed on the Band I counted eighty one others available in the App for you to download to suit your mood.

The one I liked ‘Simple Clock’ showed Heart rate, Steps, and Distance covered down the left of the screen with battery state at the top and time below that in bright white numerals and the seconds in paler white below that, at the base of the screen is month and day as numerals and then the day as a three character aberration. Either turn your wrist through 90 degrees or press the single button – on the right side – to get a four second view of the display.

If you press the button again then it displays a list of items that you can get information on.

Workout, Workout records, Heart rate, SPO2, Activity records, Sleep, Stress, Breathing exercises, Music, Notifications, Weather, Stopwatch, Timer, Alarm, Torch, Find phone and Settings. So as you will see far more than a watch certain things like Notifications, Weather and Music require your phone to be nearby.

Seeing all this information on the small watch screen is a lot to take in but assuming your watch is nearby it is automatically transferred and even more detail then becomes available. The info for most things can be viewed in day, week or month, great for noting trends.

For some of these features I can check with my own watch wearing it on one wrist and the Huawei Band on the other, Heart rate was always almost the same but the daily number of steps was always slightly larger on the Band.

SPO2 is interesting this for those who do not know is the amount of oxygen in your blood it should be high nineties and if not you need to seek medical advice very quickly.

While the watch screen is very bright I still struggled to read it when in strong sunlight.

At the time of publication the Honor Band 6-18E Smart Watch is available from Amazon on the link below for £44.99.
