Doro 750x Outdoor Dect Phone

Doro are well known for their mobile phones for the elderly and those with limited sight and very good they are. However they also do phones for landlines and here is one ideal for those who work in the garden its rugged.

doro 750X Outdoor DECT cordless phone

The phone is 14.5x5x2.5cm and coated in a rubberised material meaning it should withstand the odd drop or three. It weights 130grams. The charging base also has the ability to page the phone ideal if you have put it down somewhere and can’t remember where.

The base is 11x8x4cm at the top and slightly more at the base. A red charging light on the right and the paging button on the left. As with most Doro home phones you can have more than one handsets for those who have large properties.

There is a user guide with the first 15 pages in English and this should enable anyone to use the handset without problems.

The screen is 3x2.3cm and can display up to four lines of information. Backlit by a white light the text is in black. However in daylight the screen is still clearly readable without the backlight being on, it’s a sort of green/grey colour.

All the controls are on the face and it has a belt or strap slot at the top to allow you to have it dangling should you wish

The menu screen together with the scroll wheel allow you to set the language (default English) you can then set the phones clock in a variety of date and time formats once you press the correct buttons it is very simple to do.

Stated to work up to 300metres from the base station (I assume this is the normal open field) however I did manage to leave my property and walk a dozen houses down the road before the conversation I was having cut out.

The base unit should only be used indoors but the handset is ‘stock resistant and is protected against water and dust’ you are warned however not to immerse it in fluid or treat it violently or carelessly whatever that may mean.

There are ten different icons all identified on page three of the manual but all but two of them will be obvious to most.

The manual covers making and receiving calls as well making the ringer silent, there are four built in ring tones and volume levels can be from level one to level five. Just like a mobile phone you can turn the handset off but unless you have another handset this feature is rather self defeating. Any of your last 20 dialled numbers can be recalled to redial. If you have caller display then rather than display the number calling it can be the name associated with that number providing it is one (of up to 100) of the numbers in your phonebook.

I was happy with both the ring tone volume and the call quality; it has a function to call between handsets that I cannot comment on as I only had a single handset.

Being rubberised makes it ideal for outdoor use and those in their gardens or those who pop down the road a few houses need never miss a call.

Doing my Internet searches found the Doro 750x at a best price of £39.99 including delivery on the first link below.
