AOC 23inch Panel i2369Vm

This is another quality panel from a company in Holland who produce excellent panels but as they do not sell them under a well-known name you the user get the benefit without the added price that a known name carries in a premium.

It is 52x32x1.5cm the last figure at the edges, this however does increase to 5cm further in. The stand is circular and raises the panel by 6cm from your desk. The unit weights 3855grams with stand attached so side to side movement is possible as the whole unit moves comfortably.

There is around 20% of backward tilt and around 10% of forward tilt. The unit is stable in whatever position you have it. The viewable screen is 50.5x28cm giving the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 23inches.

This is one of the new breed of panels that have to perceivable edge on the top or sides as the screen is flush to the edges, there is around 1cm from the edge of the image to the edge of the unit. There is a 2.5cm metallic silver border on the base, towards the right corner of this are five icons in black that correspond the the buttons on the under edge of the unit, there is a single LED just to the right of these on the front that glows when the unit has power and this changes colour when an image is through to the screen.

All the connections are on the rear in a single line, the mains lead enters one side of the stand connection and everything else connects to the other side.

The connections are Display Port, HDMI 1 and MHL, HDMI 2, D-Sub (VGA) and then headphones and audio input for VGA use.

Above this row of connections are the four threaded screw holes (75mm VESA) for those who wall mount rather than use the provided stand.

Finally all by itself under the mains input is a Kensington lock port.

Like most LCD monitors this has an LED backlight which mean you use less power and perhaps most important get a better image as well as better colours.

I connected this at 1920x1080 as well as lower resolutions with a couple of older notebooks that do not have a chip powerful enough to display the higher resolution.

I have only one unit with a Display Port adapter so was able to use all three connection methods to various PCs.

I also connected a Blu-ray player which has the ability to connect to the Internet as well as play Blu-ray and DVD films.

MY only complaint is that there is never enough volume for this sort of output unless you are in a silent room. One solution is to play the sound through external speakers, however surely the panel should have enough volume output to cover all uses.

Only after using the unit for a couple of weeks did I notice that the stand slopes from back to front with 2.5cm of raise before the arm at the rear and only 1cm at the front. This is something I had never noticed previously but I shall look for in the future. It means the connecting arm can start behind the unit to finish at the underside of it and still maintain stability.

As most will know all electrical units have an energy rating ‘A’ being the best and ‘G’ the worst this is ‘B’.

Using the MHL/HDMI 1 connection you should be able to display your smartphone (Android) screen onto the unit.

Some figures it boasts 250 cd/M2 brightness and 1000:1 typical contrast which could be up to 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast. Like a lot of recent units the stated viewing angle side to side is 178degrees.

It comes with a three year warranty.

The AOC i2369Vm is available from the link below for £138.80 including delivery.
