All Purpose Massager

A name does not always help in explaining a product. This item massages the shoulders and gives massage and heat relief to the lower back, either can be used individually or together however I cannot agree with the ‘all purpose’ part of the name.

Oregon i Comfort All Purpose Massager

The Oregon i-Comfort All Purpose Massager actually arrived in the autumn after I had some very long working days and together with carrying lots of items in my bag my shoulders were more than ready for a massage or three and it proved to be vigorous enough to help melt the pains and stresses of the day away. The parts it can’t help with are the legs, arms and the feet.

It consists of a horseshoe shaped collar; this is quite large and reasonably heavy. This is by design as it needs to be for the pressure to be applied by the parts that push into the neck to give the massage, should you need an even more vigorous massage the sides of the collar end with hand grips that allow it to be pulled down even harder to the neck.

The approximate dimensions of the horseshoe collar are 30cm wide, 45cm each arm before the hand grips and 17cm thick at the top of the neck down to 2cm at the end of the arms where the wrist straps hold points start.

There is a simple three position slider to control the action of the massager unit in it. A similar slider controls the belt unit.

The semi circular belt unit is approximately 35cm long but slightly curved to fit in the small of your back, there are then two Velcro coated arms that go round the rest of the body linking together to hold the belt in place.

The curved unit has two actions the first heat to help anyone with an aching back, the second a massaging action, these can be used individually or together but there is no adjustment to increase the heat level or the massage intensity.

So far I have discussed the units as two individual units however they cannot be used by two people at the same time unless they are seated close together as there is only one power supply. To use both units at the same time the leads can be linked together so the power supply gives power to both units so that both the neck and lower back can be treated at the same time.

I have never often used a massager previously although back problems have bugged me for over twenty years. In that time I have learnt my limits and all the time I stick within them the pain is manageable. Just occasionally you try to do more - and that is when a unit such as this could be helpful - in lessening the pain levels.

I would have liked there to be a variable heat level in the belt unit and indeed to have control over the intensity of the massager in both the belt and shoulder unit. Yes in the shoulder unit you can increase the pressure by pulling down on the grips and indeed with this action the massage is quite intense in the action it gives.

I know a lot of people get relief from a human giving massage and I suppose I am expecting a lot from a collar and belt to give the same level of relief. It is also a relief to the people that give this service professionally that it does not or they would soon be out of a job in the shoulder and lower back area. Then they would have to specialise in the areas it does not cover, the feet, the legs and the arms only.

If your pain is shoulder or lower back then the Oregon Scientific ‘All PurposeMassager could certainly be of assistance.

Doing my Internet searches found the All Purpose Massager at a best price of £71.48 from the link below.
