Two Headphone Units

On this occasion both sets are available at almost the same price. Both have wired connections so have at least two things in common. So would I prefer the Giotech EX-06 or the Nine Audio Vega, read on to find which my ears preferred.

Giotech EX-06

When closed the headphones are 21cm from top to the base of the over ear cups, each arm has 3cm of movement. The total weight is 246grams. Each earpiece can rotate by 90degrees forward to enable easier storage.

The headband is well padded useful if like me you are folicly challenged. More unusally the top part of the earpiece moves inwards by around 15degrees to accommodate all shapes of heads.

The 1metre long lead has standard 3.5mm plugs at either end one plugs into the base of the left earpiece and the other into your MP3 player Smartphone or whatever. 30cm down the lead is a standard phone answer module.

The earpieces themselves are well padded and form a more or less diamond shape, so while covering the ears there is still ability for the ear to breathe.

They come in a solid zip up case which they call ‘Eva Foam’ and there is a small folded sheet to give four sides with instructions how to make calls and move a track forward/back on side one the rest is in a range of other languages.

There is a degree of noise reduction one such test I do is to see if I can hear myself typing with the headset on but no music playing if I can’t hear my typing then there is noise reduction. I always have my doubts about excessive noise reduction when out and about as you cannot hear warnings, this is not that extreme.

The sound quality was reasonable from all the connections I tried, MP3, Smartphone and even an audio system.

The Giotech EX-06 are available from the link below for £69.99.

When closed the headphones are 19cm from the top to the base of the over ear cups, each arm has 3.5cm of movement. The total weight is 297grams.

The predominate colour is white and the headband is a padded rubberised substance giving some protection.

While it seems to be the fashion to run the lead from the left earpiece here you have a choice as it can be attached to either.

The 1metre lead has phone answering fitment 15cm along its length.

The cup shape of the earpieces is oval in shape and well padded.

There are no instructions in the box but on the side of the outer sleeve are basic features in four languages.

These headphones had less noise reduction ability than the set above but did have a slightly greater bass level response than the Giotech.

The sound quality was reasonable from all the connections I tried, MP3, Smartphone and even an audio system.

Nine Audio Vega are available from the link below for £59.95 with free delivery.
