Tomy - Eternity II

3. Eternity II - by Tomy, from £24.99 - Gadgetspeak Highly Commended Award

One of our most popular reviews, here is another fantastic game for children and adults alike. Eternity II has 256 pieces each with half a pattern on its four sides. Match up all the sides to each other to create one big puzzle. Immensely difficult to do, and great for long days over Christmas. Tomy have added the incentive of a $2million reward for the first person who can solve the puzzle.

Hasbro Squawkers McCaw

5. Squawkers McCaw - by Hasbro, from £59.99

Reviewed by both paul_smart and mfereday.

Wouldn't it be great to have a parrot chat to you without the food bills and cage to clean. Squawkers McCaw is another of Hasbro's fur real friends, who looks and behaves just like the real thing, repeating words after you, responding to attention and sleeping when you look away. Colourful, bright and lifelike!

This game is just so much fun.  Children will really enjoy the high energy, silly physical challenges, and ones to work your brain as well.   Challenges are set and met in 30 seconds a time. Whether its crawling on your knees singing a song, balancing a ball on your head, throwing discs at a target or rattling off objects that start with the letter G, there's lots of giggles to be had.

Flytech Dragonfly

7. Flytech Dragonfly - from £27.89

And another product with two independent reviews - here's the first and here's the second.

A remote control dragonfly that flys in the air, will captivate children and make a refreshing change from cars and aeroplanes! It'll also get you outside in the fresh air.

Hasbro I-CY

8. I-CY - by Hasbro, from £17.99

So if you did succumb to the iPOD, how about this friendly Penguin speaker for your kids MP3 player, with light show and flapping wings!
